I really think it works well, I'm always playing with contrast too but it never looks like this! What do teachers know anyway?!

Contrast always looks better when it's done in the darkroom. If I'd have done it in photoshop, I would have lost too much information. Use the Curves tool instead, you'll get the same look and you can control the highlights, midtones, and lowlights at the same tiiiime!

Teachers? Nothing. You just have to learn what they like and serve it to them, while developing your own talent on the side. I'm pretty cynical about the education system... ._.

Ah, cheers for the advice :D I am new to photography, but love to experiment.

I'm quite a cynic about education and art, everyone has their own opinion and trying to fit into certain criteria is hard to do. I did art in college and completely flunked it! I'm not the kind of person who can 'switch it on'...thank God I was better at Psychology!

Oh, of course. I love giving people advice... 'Specially when they don't ask for it! XD

Same thing for me. I do it because I love it, and when I do it in school, I fail miserably. Strangely enough, everyone EXCEPT the teachers like my work! My classmates, the lab techs, my friends, etc! Poo on teachers.
